The nations capital is FULL of fun and exciting things to do. We are extremely fortunate to have an abundance of museums rich of Canadian history and culture that will be sure to peak your interest. Perhaps you need to entertain some out of town visitors or simply want to satisfy your curiosity. The city has created a Museums Passport allowing you to visit 3 museums of your choice over 3 consecutive days*. They also offer free admission to several museums on every evening between 4 pm and 5 pm as well as Thursday’s from 5 pm – 8pm. Soak in Canadian history at some of these museums:
National Gallery of Canada
Housed in the building of granite and glass is Canada’s exceptional art collection. From centuries-old paintings to avant-garde sculptures, the Gallery offers something for everyone.
Canadian Museum of Nature
This is the place to visit if you are interested in learning about animals, nature and our planet. From dinosaur bones to insects, the collection is kept alive by changing the exhibits and events so you can visit again and again. Don’t forget to dance the night away on the last Friday of most months at Nature Nocturne!
Canadian Museum of History
Just across the Ottawa River you can discover how our nation was shaped through exhibits that showcase cultural and historical events, experiences, people and objects. As one of North America’s oldest cultural institutions, the museum is also home to the Canadian Children’s Museum and IMAX Theatre.
Canada Science and Technology Museum
Home to many Canadian technological innovations and advancements, this museum offers a hands-on exploration guide of how Canada is transformed by technology. Although undergoing an extensive renovation, it will reopen November 17, 2017 featuring new exhibition spaces and a modern interior and exterior façade, among many other things.
Canadian War Museum
The story of how our country has been shaped by conflict can be found in this internationally renowned museum. It is through the exhibitions of personal stories, artwork, photographs and presentations that showcases Canadas strong military history. It is truly a national treasure that every Canadian and visitor should explore.
